Positive List of Shortage Occupations for Danish work permits

The Positive List is a collection of job positions that are in high demand in Denmark. If you are a foreign worker from a country outside the European Union, the European Economic Area, or Switzerland, you can apply for a work and residence permit through the Positive List program if you have a job offer for one of these positions from a Danish employer.

Moreover, if you are applying for Denmark's Green Card program, having experience in a job listed on the Positive List can earn you extra points on your application.

It's important to note that some occupations on the list have special requirements marked with an asterisk. This means that they may need Danish citizenship, specific qualifications recognized in Denmark, or adhere to international agreements for that particular sector.

Requirements In addition to having a job offer in a profession listed on the Positive List, there are other conditions you need to fulfill. If your occupation requires authorization from Danish authorities (for example, in the field of medicine), you must obtain this authorization before you can be granted a work and residence permit. You must also have a written job offer that specifies your expected salary and employment conditions, which must meet the standards set in Denmark.
Duration of Stay The length of your work and residence permit under the Positive List Scheme depends on the duration of your employment contract in Denmark. If you have a permanent employment contract without a specified end date, your work permit will be granted initially for a period of 4 years. You can then extend your permit if you continue in the same job, even if the job title is no longer on the Positive List.
For temporary employment contracts, the work and residence permits granted under this scheme are valid for the duration of your employment plus an additional 6 months. If you find another job within that timeframe, you will need to apply for a new visa based on the new job.
The Positive List You can find the complete and up-to-date Danish Positive List on this website. The list is divided into different sections, including engineering, medicine/healthcare, IT, education, academia, and more.
Family Members If you have been granted a work and residence permit under the Positive List, your spouse or partner is also eligible for a residence permit. Additionally, any children under the age of 18 who live with you are also eligible for residence permits. Your spouse or partner will be allowed to work throughout the validity period of their residence permit.
